Cars in Germany's City Found Marked with Swastikas in Blood, Police Confirm

Police stated they were notified by a individual who noticed a vehicle in Hanau covered with red-colored fluid

Roughly 50 automobiles have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.

Automobiles, walls and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.

Police say they were alerted late on Wednesday evening, when a resident discovered that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.

The liquid had been placed in the pattern of a swastika, they added.

Law enforcement then located multiple other smeared cars and residential walls in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police state initial examinations show the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"There is still no lead as to its source; investigators are currently not informed of any harm in relation with the event," they added.

City officials announced they were working "to resolve the case" and have requested to the community for information.

A senior political figure said the vandalism made him speechless and had to be solved quickly.

"This incident affects the center of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing attack five years ago," he wrote on social media, mentioning the killing of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on residents of foreign heritage in February 2020.
